The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure has published a new public call for expressions of interest for the provision of consulting services on the project for the reconstruction of the Pancevo Bridge - Pancevo Main Station - Vrsac - Romanian border railroad project, with a length of 93 kilometers.

The services include the preparation of a spatial plan, a feasibility studies with a preliminary design and an environmental impact study.

Let us remind that the same public invitation was published two years ago. The project is planned to be financed from a loan in the total amount of EUR 102 million that Serbia received from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the French Development Agency (AFD), for the costs of modernizing the rail sector of Serbia. This line is part of railroad no. 107 Belgrade Center - Pancevo Main Station - Vrsac - Romanian border (Stamora Moravita), which according to the European agreement is one of the most important international railroads connecting the pan-European transport corridors X and VII with the pan-European corridor IV in the part that passes through Romania.

Currently, the railroad is double-tracked on the section Belgrade Center - Pancevo Main Station (entry), while it is single-tracked on the section Pancevo Main Station (exit) - Vrsac - Romanian border, and is designed for a maximum speed of 80-120 km/h.

The project for the construction of the second track on the section Pancevo Bridge – Pancevo Main Station (exit) was completed in 2017 with a loan from the Russian Federation and with co-financing from the budget of Serbia, in the amount of USD 89.9 million.

In addition, only the section Belgrade Center - Pancevo Varos (entry) is electrified.

The planned reconstruction of the railroad includes modernization from the Pancevo Bridge at the beginning of switch no. 11. at km 5+145 to the Romanian border at km 98+314, including the improvement of route elements for a speed of up to 160 km/h.

As stated in the tender documentation, a new Pancevo Banat station will be built, so the modernized line should be double-tracked from the Pancevo Main Station to the new Pancevo Banat station, and single-tracked from that station to the state border with Romania.

The construction of the new Pancevo Banat station, which is being introduced to meet the needs of the local industry, is planned after the junction where the Beli Potok - Vinca - Pancevo Main Station railroad bypass joins the railroad towards Vrsac. The reconstruction of tracks and platforms at all stations, the reconstruction of the railroad triangle towards Zrenjanin, the repair and replacement of bridges and culverts as necessary and adequate lighting on the Pancevo Bridge for the signaling of waterways are also planned.

The project also includes the construction of new garages for heavy motor vehicles, most likely at the Pancevo Main Station and the Vrsac Station.

The reconstruction and construction of fixed electrical traction installations (electrification for a 25 kV/50 Hz system) will be carried out, as well as the capacity building of the open railroad and tracks with modern signaling and blocking devices at the stations.

Digitization of telecommunications on the entire railroad and an increase in the level of protection at level crossings are planned.

The renovation of architectural buildings along the railroad is also planned, primarily station buildings, but also auxiliary buildings (e.g. access, parking, bus stops, etc., as per need).

It is noted that for all existing facilities (stations and others), it is necessary to carry out a review of structural conditions and load-bearing tests.

The deadline for expressing interest in participating in the tender is March 19. Other details can be found HERE.
