Russia tightens procedures on import through EU countries


Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) introduced new, tightened rules on import of products of animal origin through European Union countries.
According to the Federal Service, products subject to veterinary control, produced in the third countries and travelling through EU, have to be transported in vehicles and containers sealed in the exporting country. It must not be unsealed in the EU countries. Load has to be accompanied with veterinary certificate from the country of product origin, writes Interfaks.
Those conditions do not refer to products from Andorra, Vatican, Lichtenstein, Island, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, and Switzerland. Live animals, non-mammals, pets, collectibles, trophies, taxidermy animals, food and food supplements, biological water resources and products made by their processing, food products and feed for retail sealed by the producer, medicines for animals and other products for veterinary labels (tools for diagnosis, disinfectants, disinsection and deration products) are not subject to these rules, as well.
As Rothisselkhoznadzor said, this measure is important for prevention of different infectious disease and import of products of animal origin which are not in accordance with security procedures.
