Tenders for the purchase of 300 buses for Belgrade public transport are now on the line - Leasing companies do not wish to participate in the financing

The two tenders for the purchase of a total of 300 buses through financial leasing for the needs of GSP Belgrade, announced at the beginning of February, are placed under a big question mark. Although these two public procurements (one for the purchase of 130 articulated buses and the other for the procurement of 170 solo vehicles) are officially still open, high chance is that they will not be successfully implemented because the leasing companies, without which the successful implementation of these purchases is not possible, do not wish to participate in the financing, the Center for Local Self-Government has learned.

- The City of Belgrade will not purchase 300 new buses, as previously announced. Leasing companies refused to participate in the financing of this work, due to the catastrophic economic and uncertain political situation in the city - CLS states in their statement adding that the city of Belgrade no longer has the capacity to implement any large project.

An inspection of the tender documentation confirms that it is not going well with two tenders for the purchase of new vehicles for the needs of GSP. Because the original deadline for submitting bids for both of these tenders was March 25, but in the meantime, as can be seen, that deadline was additionally extended twice. For articulated buses, the first extension was March 31, and then the deadline for submitting bids in connection with this public procurement was subsequently extended to April 22. When it comes to 170 solo vehicles, the deadline for submission of bids was initially extended from March 25 to April 17, and subsequently also to April 22.

Apparently, all is not well with the recently announced tender for the purchase of 100 short trams, because the original deadline for submission of bids for that public procurement, originally scheduled for April 1, was extended to May 5.
