Government adopts decree on spatial plan for railroad from Belgrade to Nis

At today’s session, the Government of Serbia adopted the Decree which determines the Spatial Plan of the Special-Purpose Area of the Infrastructure Corridor of the Belgrade-Nis Railroad and creates the conditions for the modernization and reconstruction of the existing railroad on three sections, namely, Velika Plana-Gilje, Paracin-Stalac and Djunis-Trupale, with a total length of around 109 kilometers, the Government announced.

– With the adoption of this spatial plan, on these sections, the conditions will meet for traffic at 200 km/h and for raising the quality of the rail infrastructure of E-70 and E-85 in Corridor 10, that is, the reconstruction and modernization of the existing railroad on the Velika Plana-Nis section – the announcement says.

On this section, the extension of several deviations from the existing routes is planned, which will enable traffic at 160 km/h.

– In line with the strategic orientation of the Republic of Serbia, in further explorations and through the preparation of suitable documentation, it is possible to form the corridor of the railroad Belgrade-Mladenovac-Nis-border with North Macedonia, for 200 km/h, which will be part of the “Silk Road” rail corridor in the territory of the Republic of Serbia – it is said.
