Preparation of new Law on Planning and Construction to start next year

The preparation of the new Law on Planning and Construction, which will finally enable the systematization of everything in that field, will begin next year, announced the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, who opened the regional conference “Future Trends in Construction Industry”.

– The construction industry in our country has been recording very good results which are considerably above the European average. In the first quarter of 2024, the value of the construction works done by the territory of Serbia grew 22% compared to the same period last year. In the second quarter, the construction industry grew at a rate of 14.9% in current prices, and we ended last year with a growth of 11.2% – Vesic said in an announcement on social media.

Parallel to that, the real growth of the gross domestic product of Serbia in the second quarter of 2024, as he added, was around 4% and is expected to exceed 4% by the end of the year.

The growth of the construction industry in Serbia, he noted, is also a consequence of the Law on Planning and Construction, adopted last year.

– Next year, we are starting the preparation of the new law, about which a wide public discussion will be organized. The current law has been amended so many times that it is necessary to adopt a new law which will finally systematize everything – Vesic emphasized.
