Plans for Serbian Airports – Reconstruction of Ponikve for Handling of Airbus A320 Neo and Boeing 757 Planes, Morava to Get Platform for Bigger Aircraft

The company Aerodromi Srbije (Airports of Serbia) has filed the requests for the phase-based reconstruction of the Ponikve Airport and the expansion of platform A at the Morava Airport to the Ministry of Environmental Protection.

According to the environmental impact assessment study for the project of the phase-based reconstruction of the Ponikve Airport, the reconstruction is to be done in five phases.

The first and second phases entail the repair of runway, the taxiway necessary for the maneuvering of the Airbus A320 Neo aircraft, the main runway, the drainage system and the cable canalization.

The third phase entails the expansion of the turn at the threshold 28 of the runway, as said, to the end of creating the possibility for the maneuvering of the critical airplane Boeing 757.

The subject of the phase-four project is the construction of a new taxiway and platform, and the fifth phase will entail the reconstruction of the shoulder of the runway.

The study was prepared by ECOlogica URBO doo from Kragujevac.

Within the project of the expansion of the existing platform at the Morava Airport, the reconstruction and expansion of the existing airplane parking platform is planned as well.

As said, the existing platform is to be kept in a part with an area of 4,925 m2, whereas the expanded part of the platform takes up an area of 31,220 m2.


– With its structural and exploitation characteristics, the new platform will enable the handling of the largest code letter E aircraft, with the establishment of traffic safety and an unobstructed process of servicing the aircraft, the passengers and the goods – the document says.

The request for deciding on the necessity of the assessment of the impact of the project Expansion of Platform A at the Morava Airport was prepared by NEO Aerodromes Engineering doo from Belgrade.
