Ana Brnabic Candidate for New Prime Minister – Term Shortened Until 2024

Ana Brnabic is the candidate for the new Prime Minister, as announced yesterday by Aleksandar Vucic, the President of Serbia. He said that the decision had been made in accordance with the Constitution of Serbia.

Vucic stated that the decision was complicated and complex even within the largest party in the country, with coalition partners, and added that all three candidates for this position would be important members of the government.

– Ana will not be prime minister for four years. Her term will be shorter, there will be changes in 2024 – Vucic said in his address at the Presidency.

He said that the government’s term was being shortened based on political agreement.

– We can always have elections. There will be local elections then (2024). We can have elections – explained Vucic.

Vucic proposed Brnabic as the candidate after listening to the opinions of the representatives of the electoral lists.

As he said, the Deputy Prime Minister will be the second candidate of the Serbian Progressive Party, Milos Vucevic, whereas the candidate of the Socialist Party of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, will have a very important function in the Government as the Coordinator of the Security Services.

Sinisa Mali, until now the Minister of Finance, will be a Deputy Prime Minister.

Vucic says that he expects the Government to be formed in 15 to 25 days, but that it’s not important when, but to have a good composition of people who are ready to fight for their country.

He said that a difficult period was to follow and that the political scene would need to consolidate.
