When it comes to implementation of the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which calls for cutting the budget deficit, starting the restructuring of enterprises and making plans for downsizing in public administration, Serbia has passed the first test. One of the country's obligations was also to begin the reform of one of the largest companies - the Electric Power Company of Serbia (EPS).

The first phase of reform should be completed in four days. EPS is the first institution to get a positive assessment from the IMF, said EPS General Manager Aleksandar Obradovic.

- We will have a completely different EPS - an organized system consisting of three independent energy businesses instead of fourteen - Obradovic said in his guest appearance on RTS, stressing that changes would not remain just an empty promise.
Essential changes are yet to be made, and results will be the main parameter of success, said Obradovic.

So far, EPS has been losing EUR 100,000 on a daily basis due to poor organization. Losses will be significantly reduced, Obradovic underlined.
The general manager of EPS also announced dismissal of executives and inefficient workers.

Speaking about the announcement that the main dispatcher center would be situated in Novi Sad, Obradovic explained that the reason for that was the fact that the center in Novi Sad had achieved the best results of all.

Consumers will get a higher level of service, more stable network and service system, as well as a single price, Obradovic concluded.
