According to the valid requests submitted in 2024, so far, for the subsidizing of electric vehicles, around RSD 107 million has been reserved of the total earmarked amount of RSD 170 million for the support to the purchase of electric vehicles, stated the minister of environmental protection of Serbia, Irena Vujovic.
Vujovic, as the competent ministry announces, added that, in 2024, funds had been reserved to support the purchase of 187 electric vehicles.
– That shows that the citizens, entrepreneurs and legal persons have recognized this measure and that they want to shift to an environmentally friendly form of transport. It is important to us, because the subsidizing of the purchase of electric vehicles, which don’t emit harmful matters, is part of the set of measures for improving air quality. All those who are interested in purchasing an electric vehicle should know that, according to the Decree from the current year, there is RSD 63 million left for subsidies. Due to the great interest, in the past years, we have also secured additional funds so that those interested would realize the right to this form of support. So far, for that purpose, we have spent more than a billion dinars from the budget of the ministry. We will continue realizing this measure in the future, because it is important for having cleaner air and the improvement of the living environment – said Vujovic.
Vujovic emphasized that the measure could be an additional impulse for the local production of electric vehicles and an incentive for the further demand for so-called ecological vehicles.
The right to a subsidy for the purchase of an electric vehicle can be realized by natural persons, entrepreneurs and legal persons, and the planned support amounts to EUR 250 to 5,000, depending on the vehicle type. The requests are filed to the ministry until they are spent and no later than October 31, 2024.
In the past four years, with the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, around 2,500 ecologically acceptable vehicles have been bought.
