BK Group to build 5.7 million square meter complex dubbed Baghdad World - Serbia gets USD 12 billion from mega project in Iraq
BK Group management presented the Baghdad World project to the Iraqi government on Tuesday (30 July 2013). Baghdad World is a 5.7 million square meter "city within a city" that should bring Serbia USD 12 billion, the company said in a release.
Guidelines for further coordination of joint expert teams in the construction of Baghdad World were determined at a meeting that a BK Group delegation led by Dragomir J. Karic had with Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Saleh al-Mutlak and Iraqi Construction Minister Mohammed a Darayi.
BK Group said in its release that the Baghdad World project would restore the historic tradition of Serbia's construction industry, adding that they expected full support from the Republic of Serbia "that could provide favorable loans to Serbian companies involved in the implementation of this project."
- Considering that every construction project absorbs 90 percent of the industry, this mega project will recover the destroyed industry of our country - the release reads.
BK Group plans to invite all construction companies and associations from Southeast Europe to join their consortium and help them implement this project in Iraq.
