Camping resort next to water mill in Bela Palanka - Municipality plans to build Vrelo sports and recreation complex

In order to offer the citizens of Bela Palanka and visitors of the municipality on the Nisava river interesting facilities, people running the town built on the foundations of ancient Remisiana have decided to open the sports and recreation center Vrelo in the town center. This five-hectare complex should comprise a hotel, a camping resort with bungalows, sports courts and other facilities.

The public company Zavod za Urbanizam (Town Planning Institute) Nis has made the Detailed Regulation Plan for the area of the sports and recreation center Vrelo in Bela Palanka.

- It is an area in the very center of Bela Palanka, which should be preserved and enriched with new facilities. What is interesting is that historical and protected facilities - the Church of the Resurrection (Vaznesenja Gospodnjeg) and a necropolis, are situated in that location and have to be preserved. On the other hand, novelties should be appealing enough to attract people to visit Palanka and stay in the town for some time - Branimir Ciric, architect at the Nis Town Planning Institute, says in an interview for eKapija and adds that his company had good cooperation with the municipality.

As our interlocutor explains, there are already certain facilities in the location of the future complex Vrelo.

- A restaurant, a kindergarten and an amphitheater are already located in that area, as well as the facility of Remisiana Boy Scout Squad. There is also an operational water mill in the area, which are very rare in Serbia. We believe that the water mill should be modernized, which would make it very interesting to visitors.

The architects who designed the Detailed Regulation Plan suggested that most facilities should be built of natural materials in order to fit into natural surroundings.

- The plan is to build a camping resort with bungalows and create a space for tents behind the existing facility of the boy scout squad. Bungalows should be built of wood to fit into natural surroundings. Construction of a sports and recreation complex with accompanying facilities is also in the pipeline. There should also be a recreation space for boy scouts, comprising accompanying facilities such as shooting range, mini golf course, mini zoo, trim track, health trail, etc. - Lidija Stefanovic, town planner at the public company Zavod za Urbanizam Nis, says for eKapija.

A hotel with 80-100 beds is planned to be built for tourists who don't like camping.

Ms. Stefanovic stresses that it is necessary to carry out an archeological survey of the sites under protection. There will be a park in that part of the area and, according to the plan, trails should be built of natural materials, that is, of stone.
