RK Beograd department store opened in Bor - EUR 1.5m for modernization
A Robne Kuce (RK) Beograd department store was opened yesterday in Bor. That is the first facility from the chain of that company that was privatized in October 2007 to be opened in eastern Serbia. As it was said at the opening ceremony, a total of 1.5 million euros was invested in renovation and modernization of the old department store in Bor.
The department store in Bor has three floors spanning a total of 4,180 square meters. Once it starts operating at full capacity, it will contribute to creation of nearly 100 new jobs.
"In accordance with the plans for returning all 34 departments stores to the market of Serbia, Bor is, after Belgrade and Kragujevac, the third city to get back one of the largest national brands", it was said at the opening ceremony.
The opening ceremony was attended by Viktor Troicki, a member of the Davis Cup national team, who was signing tennis balls and giving them away to the visitors.
At the auction for sale of the company RK Beograd in bankruptcy in October 2007, the best bid was given by Verano Motors. This company and its Greek partner Marfin Investment Group (MIG) then paid the final price of 360 million euros prior to the deadline stipulated by law.
All around Serbia this company has 34 department stores spanning a total of about 220,000 square meters and, according to the words of the company's management, over 80 million euros have been invested in their modernization to date.
