Construction of another, exceptional hotel in New Belgrade, Boris Podrecca's team and Multicon Engineering to draw plans for facility in Block 11a

Belgrade is going to get another symbol of the city - a magnificient hotel, which will be situated at the corner of one of the main New Belgrade's streets, Mihaila Pupina Boulevard, and Trešnjinog Cveta Street.

The facility will have two purposes, so the city is going to get both city hotel and business building. If you take a look at these pictures, you will see two separate cubuses where the crystall structure of the business glass tower will be connected to hotel capacities. The hotel facade facing the river will have mild vertical curves and an arc that will reflect the curved current of the Danube river.

Total surface of the facility will be about 17,000 square meters, while the surface of the building lot is 4,405 square meters.

The business building will consist of two units - 11-floor tower and 4-floor joining tract.

The 9-floor hotel will have minimum four stars. It is positioned as a city hotel that offers its services to businessmen, congress participants and tourists, and the hotel will be offering only breakfast. In addition to 185 rooms (four rooms for handicapped persons), the hotel will also include a restaurant, bar, small business center and fitness club with sauna and steam bath.

The 11-floor business building is designed to satisfy the needs of local and foreign companies that require a modern office space on the best location.

Parking places, 139 of them (10 for handicapped persons) will be distributed on two underground floors of the hotel-business complex.

The investor is Michaeler & Partners (www.michaeler-partner.com), and the facility should be finished prior to the end of year 2009.

The team of Podrecca Studio from Vienna, led by Prof. Boris Podrecca (professor at University of Stuttgart and member of SANU) and his colleagues Gerhard Hagelkrus and Leopold Nenning, have designed the preliminary solution in association with Multicon Engineering's project team, which is also in charge of implementation of local standards and regulations. Besides, Multicon Engineering (www.multicon-engineering.com) will be in charge of the complete project management, that is, it is to collect permits and licenses and to carry out all procedures required by the authorized institutions of the city of Belgrade.

The project is currently in the phase when the building permits are being collected, while the designing of technical documentation is also underway.

It should be pointed out that this is the first from the series of facilities that will be developed by Multicon (www.multicon-engineering.com) and Podrecca Studio. Since Prof. Podrecca is one of the world's most esteemed architects, this is an opportunity for exchange of experiences and introduction to new trends in modern architecture. This is, also, an opportunity for young experts of Multicon to get familiar with the expertise and methods of work of European bureaues, while expert public eagerly observes the activities of professor Podrecca at the future Technology Museum in Dorćol.

It should be pointed out that both investor Alba Invest and architects of Podrecca Studio were open for all suggestions of experts from Multicon's team.
