Construction of a EUR 3 million hotel on Rtanj starts – Cable car also planned
The construction of a hotel worth around EUR 3 million, invested by Jadranka Stepanovic, co-owner of a local pellet factory called Bionergy Point, has started on Rtanj Mountain.
– The facility with 88 beds will take up an area of 3,800 square meters. We expect the works on the most mystical Serbian mountain to be completed by the end of the next year, following which 50 people should be employed – Stepanovic said.
The location hadn't been developed, so the investors first had to provide electricity and water supply, in which they were aided by the municipality of Boljevac.
– After over half a century, this will be the first hotel to be built in our area – Dr Nebojsa Marjanovic, head of the local self-government, points out. – Rtanj is our biggest tourist opportunity, which hasn't been sufficiently exploited, and we hope that the construction of this hotel will act as a kind of invitation to other investors as well.
The hotel will be built in wood and glass and feature ethnic motifs. It will have an artificial lake in the front, and the installment of a EUR 9 million cable car, allowing for sightseeing, from the foot to the peak of Rtanj Mountain, is also planned.
