The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has stated that the owners of a cement plant in Serbia have told him that, if the prices of electricity in the liberalized market are this high, they will have to raise the price of cement by 25%, which will lead to an increase in the prices of construction.

Vucic said on TV Pink that this meant that all construction materials would be more expensive by 25%, reflecting on all construction works.

– The prices of stone, cement and lime will increase, not to mention the energy sources, gas, coal and electrical energy – he said.

Vucic said that he had discussed the issue that morning with the minister of energy, Zorana Mihajlovic, and the prime minister, Ana Brnabic.

– We will form a large work group on a state level in order to try to solve those problems – he emphasized.

Vucic pointed out that China was facing the lack of electrical energy as well and that the situation in Europe was disastrous.

– The profit of even the strongest factories is dropping and they will be looking where to move it, to secure the capital and make a profit. That is very stressful and difficult and that is why we need to deal with these issues – Vucic concluded.
