Paper label becomes history - Computerized transit system in use



The Customs administration started applying new computerized transit system which will replace paper labels with electronic ones, the Ministry of Finance announced on Friday, September 26,2014.
In the announcement, it was defined that the implementation of the new system (NCTS),which will enable submission of electronic labels for goods transit and overall electronic evidence and management of transit customs affairs in road traffic started September 23. .
- Paper declaration will be history. It will be replaced with the electronic label in an efficient and safe way – it was outlined in the announcement.
The announcement also states NCTS is a capital project where EU poured a few million euros because a connection to the system is a prerequisite to join EU.
In line with the plan, the Customs administration of Serbia started implementing pilot stage in five customs offices in Subotica and it is expected that by the end of the year all offices in the country are connected, it was added
NCTS is the first fully computerized customs system for paper-free business management which means that transit label is submitted electronically and is electronically processed at the Customs administration. It is verified with electronic signature of the one who submits it while the Customs administration makes a decision on goods release also electronically.
Shipping and forwarding company, Pro Team, was the first to submit electronic customs label in Serbia and the Customs house Subotica at Horgos accepted and processed it. In the next few weeks, itis expected that other businessmen who expressed their interest in participating in the pilot stage start using electronic labels.
The Customs administration will enable business community to use the electronic label submission program free of charge, as a support for NCTS.
