From cattle fair to global network – Programmers are planning to launch Farmia animal sale system to America

So far, direct sale of domestic animals worked for Serbia, A buyer comes, picks up, has a coffee, pays and takes what he bought. Will cattle trading in our country move from the market to global markets we will see soon. As for now, the first step has been made. Young programmers included in the Farmia project, designed an online platform for domestic animals sale and the first pig can be bought already.
Bulgarian accelerator Eleven believes in this project and thus it invested EUR 50.000 EUR in Farmia.
Miloc Milic and Srdjan Stupar manage this young team and in the interview for eKapija they explain why they opted for the software in agriculture, announce new options in the system and do not hide their ambition that Farmia could become cattle sale software worldwide.
As they explain, their objective is to enable simpler, faster and cheaper process of domestic animals trading both for buyers and sellers.
Farmia enables fast and easy animals location, direct sale without brokers, purchase outside local framework at the moment when a buyer wants it at the best price. In a few words – it saves time and money.
Both Milic and Stupar had well-paid jobs but still they opted to start something of their own.
Milos Milic finished Startup Academy where he had mentor training of successful entrepreneurs. During his successful programming career, he was thinking about his project. There were numerous ideas.
He outlines he did not step into the industry without previous knowledge. His parents had a mid-sized farm so he was familiar with all difficulties in goods sale. He tried to overcome them through Farmia application.
Therefore, serious platform was in initiated which will generate a network of buyers and to connect them directly with sellers so that they would speed up business and make transaction cheaper.
Our collocutors add that system is free of charge as for now and in the next stage they will present the commercial cooperation model.
Initial steps
- We were getting ready for accelerators. We applied in November and were provided with funds for development in December and the program started in January. We moved as one of the first into "See Ict Beograd", an organization which aims at creating inspiring environment for start up community and culture development in Serbia – Milic explains and adds that in a short time they achieved good results.
Farmia in the world
Our collocutors do not hide they are satisfied with current work and interest in their product. Still, Serbia is not their priority market.
- We developed system for our country and we will do our best to make it live but we are planning to offer it to other markets. I think Farmia would do well in America. It is very perspective market and family farms are big. They have popular auctions which are expensive and inefficient. Our system can leave out all unnecessary steps.
Software integration in agriculture
Agriculture will increase the number of management systems which farmers will use in the future even though a large number of them has already been using them.
-If the interest becomes sufficient, we want to open our system and enable integration of these systems with our platform and this way we would enable farmers to directly place their goods, in this case, animals, to the markets via such systems.
