Commission for competition protection of Serbia checks up on merge between Holcim and Lafarge


On Tuesday, September 2, 2014, the Commission for competition protection of Serbia published it is investigating whether the concentration which will result after the merge of Lafarge and Holcim will endanger market competition where both cement plants operate.
As it was stated at the company’s site, the investigation was officially initiated since two big world cement plants, French Lafarge and Swiss Holcim operate in Serbia through their controlled companies.
It was précised that Holcim owns four and Lafarge two liable companies which are registered and active in Serbia.
Companies also announced that they are looking for the interested for the acquisition of their property in different countries, among which in France, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Serbia, Great Britain and Brazil.
If approved, the transaction will be carried out through share exchange where one Holcim’s share will be exchanged for one Large’s.
