The long-awaited reconstruction of the courts in Serbia, should finally begin this year. As previously announced, it will be the largest infrastructure rehabilitation in the justice system in the last half century, and only in Belgrade several important buildings will be renovated.
The Ministry of Justice has announced major procurement this year. The projects will mainly be financed from the European Investment Bank (EIB).
Three buildings in Belgrade will be renovated. The largest and most extensive reconstruction will be reconstruction of the Palace of Justice (the Supreme Court building located in Sava Street, of around 30,000 m2 of surface area), and then, reconstruction and renovation of the former building of the Military Technical Institute in Kataniceva street (for the purposes of judicial authorities, approximately 11,500 m2 net area), and construction of a new wing of the Special Court located in Ustanicka Street (around 8,500 m2).
As noted in the previous notice published by the Ministry of Justice, the three sub-projects are a key part of a wider program "Modernization of Justice facilities in order to provide additional capacity to the new network of courts."
Procurement is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2014. Procurement will be carried out in accordance with the "Guidelines for Procurement" of the European Investment Bank, and public auction will be open to all companies from the country and abroad.

Procurement Notice for works will be published for each object in the Official Journal of the EU, and on electronic portal www.portal.ujn.gov.rs with free access and on the web site of the Ministry of Justice.
- The goal of these works is modernization of justice facilities in accordance with the new standards, which will encourage better and safer functioning of the courts, as well as improving access to justice. In addition, the investment will reduce long-term operating costs.
