MIHAJLOVIC: Rehabilitation of flood-affected houses and roads by October

Houses, road infrastructure and landslides affected by floods will all be rehabilitated by the autumn, said Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Zorana Mihajlovic.
She reminded that the Serbian government had adopted a report in which the damages caused by floods and overall losses were assessed at EUR 1.5 billion. This applies to houses, education and healthcare institutions, railway and telecommunication infrastructure, production sector, that is, agriculture, energy and mining, as well as environmental protection.
Mihajlovic announced that Serbia would soon obtain a law to regulate the rehabilitation of aforementioned facilities and infrastructure.
- This law should speed up the procedures to allow for people to live a normal life - Mihajlovic said and added that they were also working with donors to change the purpose of certain loans.
Mihajlovic specified that damages caused to road infrastructure were assessed at EUR 460 million.
- We promised to have all roads - regional, main and local roads - rehabilitated by October 1st - Mihajlovic confirmed.
