MK Mountain Resort to build another 75 suites in Grand Hotel – Kopaonik has never been more prepared for guests during the summer season

Grand Hotel at Mount Kopaonik may get additional 75 suites by the year's end. Namely, MK Mountain Resort is planning to start construction as soon as the Urban plan of Kopaonik, for which they are optimistic that it could be finished in a few months.

As the General Manager of MK Mountain Resort, Nikola Avram, said, according to the plan, a new congress center will be constructed while the existing Andjela conference hall will be turned into a spa center.

At the same time, MK Mountain Resort announced that this summer it expects 30.000 overnight stays which is three times more compared to a few years ago.

- We want to make an active vacation concept, i.e. that the guests can spend three to four days in numerous activities and not to, as it was the case, spend their holiday only “having a pancakes” – Avram said.

He outlined that as for now everything goes as planned and that guests already perceive the mountain as summer destination.

Everyone can find something

During the previous weekend, at the beginng of the summer season during the promote of the active vacation, Kopaonik Open Summer Tour, the oragnizers, MK Mountain Resort and PC Skijalista Srbije, enabled gusts to create their active vacation in nature by choosing some out of numerous adrenaline and entertaining activities - paragliding, walking tours, cable car ride, mountain biking, horse riding as well as entertainment park activities - zip line, bob on rails and tubing.

- This summer, we expect 30.000 overnight stays which is still far from the great potential of the mountain. Apart from an active vacation and facilities Kopaonik offers, accommodation prices lower up to 50% during summer time compared to winter time contributes to this. Our investments are at this moment fully oriented to summer season in Kopaonik, this is where we see the biggest potential and we will try in a few years, together with our partners from Skijalista Srbije to develop the concept of the European mountain centers which have been preferring summer offer and facilities for some time now- Nikola Avram, General Manager at MK Mountain Resort, said.

For those who opt for spending summer at the mountain, it is important to mention that cable cars and other attractions started operating as of June 16 and will work every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Entertaining and adrenaline facilities will be available during the entire summer, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Dejan Ljevnaic, the Acting Manager at Skijalista Srbije said.

Visitors at Kopaonik can enjoy walks, panorama Pancic cable car ride, biking along specially defined routes and other kinds of entertainment. As of this season, a new path, 1500 meters long for special downhill vehicles, mountain cart, from the Pancic top through Krst paths to the valley of sports, is available.

In order to enable visitors of mountain centers easier and faster access to information about facilities, Skijalista Srbije prepared the Ski Serbia summer application for Android platform of mobile devices. The application enables users to get information on activities and facilities available at the mountain in an easier and more thorough way.

Sportsmen are welcomed guests

Avram said that during the summer basketball representation of Serbia and a handball club from Macedonia come for preparation at Kopaonik and sportsmen from Russia and Ukraine are expected as well.

Cooperation with summer festivals

One of the suggestions so that they could attract guests who have always been relating summer to the sea and beaches, is the organization of summer festivals at the mountain.

As the GM of MK Mountain Resort says, they have already been thinking about it but since Serbia already has plenty of summer festival, it would not be completely new festival but cooperation with the existing brand.

Since the idea is at its initial stage, it is left to be seen whether at the Kopaonik slopes we will have the opportunity to hear the Exit DJs’s sounds of the sounds of Guca trumpets. And we may be surprised with some genre or other performers.
