The state of emergency will stay in effect in Obrenovac on Tuesday and Wednesday, and its lifting will be reconsidered Thursday (12 June 2014), Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said at a session of the Obrenovac Crisis Staff.
He justified this decision by saying that the assistance of the Army was still necessary.
Vucic expects the power to be back on in Obrenovac in two or three days and that life will then start getting back to normal in this town.
- There are 95 completely destroyed homes and 158 partially damaged ones that cannot be used. By the winter, all 253 facilities will have been rebuilt - the prime minister promised.
The session of the Crisis Staff was also attended by Economy Minister Dusan Vujovic because "the rehabilitation of economic life in a long run is the greatest priority."
Vucic voiced his expectation that banks would show understanding and enable subsidized loans. He also announced that farmers would be getting seeds as of Tuesday (June 10), adding that they would also get back the cattle and poultry they had lost to the flood.
As he noted, the biggest problem in the town is the lack of drinking water because all 21 wells in Obrenovac are under water.
- We're doing all we can to provide the people of Obrenovac with water as soon as possible - said Vucic.
Aside from Vucic, Vujovic and Defense Minister Bratislav Gasic, the session of the Crisis Staff was also attended by Belgrade Mayor Sinisa Mali and Head of the General Staff Ljubisa Dikovic.
The prime minister announced at a recent price conference in the Serbian government that the state would grant an aid of RSD 250,000 to every household that suffered damages in the flood.
