Construction of the Swarovski factory in Mali Bajmok Industrial Zone in Subotica, which commenced mid-February, is now at full swing because of good weather. There are two cranes on the building site, where the contours of the future facility are already visible, the web portal gradsubotica.co.rs has reported.
- Although the construction of this factory has just started, the Austrian crystal manufacturer Swarovski is already looking to hire 54 people from Subotica, while the number of those currently working in a rented space is expected to grow to 200 by mid-2014 - said Milan Vuckovic, a member of the Subotica City Council who is in charge of the economy.

- I think that they plan to finish the construction of this 15,000 square meter factory by the year's end. A trial production will then run for another two or three months before the factory achieves full production capacity - Vuckovic told Tanjug news agency.
He stressed that the equipping of the zone with infrastructure by the local self-government was running parallel to the factory construction, adding that the process of selecting the contractor for the paving of internal road within the zone, which should connect the factories of Continental and Swarovski, was underway.
