Uniqa completes Basler osiguranje acquisition in Serbia and Croatia

Austria's Uniqa Insurance Group AG has completely finished the process of taking over Swiss Baloise Group's subsidiaries in Croatia and Serbia, which was preceded by the approval from all Austrian, Croatian and Serbia competent institutions involved in this process, the web portal seebiz.eu cites Uniqa officials as announcing.
A takeover agreement for Swiss Baloise Group's affiliates in Croatia and Serbia was signed October 2013, while the acquisition process was completely finished March 11.

As previously announced, this transaction is valued at EUR 75 million.

According to the latest data published, Uniqa osiguranje and Basler osiguranje Zagreb will have a market share of 7.5% and rank fourth in the Croatian insurance market. With this acquisition, Uniqa will increase its market share in Serbia to over 8%, seebiz.eu reports.

Through these acquisitions, Uniqa is strengthening its overall position in the region of southeast Europe, where it operates in Serbia, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Croatia, and Macedonia.
