Serbia signs Memorandum of construction of international gas pipeline "Blue stream" today (December 20)


The Memorandum of understanding for construction of main gas pipeline through Serbia, from Dimitrovgrad to Croatian border, will be signed today (December 20, 2006) in Moscow by the representatives of the Government of Serbia, Russian company "Gazprom" and Serbian company "Srbijagas".
The Memorandum will be signed by the Ministry of Mining and Energy of Serbia, Radomir Naumov, general manager of "Gazprom export", Aleksandar Medvedev, and general manager of "Srbijagas" Miloš Milanković.
The gas pipeline, which will be passing through our country in length of 400 km, is a part of international gas pipeline "Blue stream", which connects Russia and Turkey across the Black Sea and goes through Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia to the north of Italy.
The gas pipeline through Serbia will much improve the energy situation and enable safe and stable gas supply of our country, entire region and the countries of European Union. Serbia will get the chance to become a transit country of the big gas importer and realize significant incomes fro transit taxes, which will improve economic development of the country.
