Serbia ready to start negotiations with IMF

Serbia is ready to start negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on a new arrangement (so-called precautionary arrangement). Talks may start as early as in the first months of 2014, and the expected arrangement should improve the credibility of the Serbian government because it reflects its readiness to tackle the most serious financial and economic problems, the Economy Ministry said in a release.
This precautionary arrangement with the IMF will help Serbia carry out planned reforms and send out a clear signal to foreign investors that Serbia is a safe, stabla and attractive market.
Serbia will continue to tackle key problems in the public finance sector in the following period. Among other things, it will keep fighting against grey economy and take all necessary actions to complete the process of reorganization of state-owned companies.
