Wheat and sunflower exports at record high in 2013

Vukosav Sakovic, director of the Zita Srbije organization, said that Serbia had exported a million tonnes of wheat in five months, in the period between July 1st and November 30th, thus setting a new record.
- This year we can be proud of wheat exports. We expect between 1.3 and 1.4 million tonnes to be exported by the new harvest - Sakovic told Beta news agency.
Aside from the fact that the export of grains and oilseeds this year is much better than in 2012, a new record is set for sunflower exports as well.
- Serbia exported about 130,000 tonnes of sunflower this year, thus making a significant progress given that the previous record high was about 20,000 tonnes - said Sakovic.
However, there are problems with the export of corn which is our country's "No.1 crop".
Namely, only about 400,000 tonnes of corn have been exported over the past two months - between October 1st and November 30th.
Sakovic estimated that Serbia would export between 2 and 2.5 million tonnes of corn this year.
