Koteks to export kosher meat products to Israel

The first meat packing company in Serbia to obtain consent for the export of products to Israel in line with Kosher standards will be Koteks, a member of the business group Interkomerc, the company said in a release on Wednesday.

According to the release, a delegation of the Veterinary Authority of Israel was staying in Serbia at the invitation of the Veterinary Authority of Serbia, and the visit was organized on the initiative of the Interkomerc company and Israel's Baladi on the occasion of the Serbian company obtaining a certificate allowing it to export beef to Israel.

Interkomerc commenced negotiations with several Israeli companies in late 2012 with the aim of finding a partner that could market the meat from Serbia in that Near East country.

Israel currently imports in excess of 90 percent of all the beef consumed in the country, mainly from South America.
