"American corner" opened in the center of Belgrade

The Ambassador of USA in Serbia, Michael Polt and deputy mayor of Belgrade, Radmila Hrustanovic, opened yesterday festiveley (October, 17th, 2006) the American corner in Belgrade's Youth center.

- I am very happy that the new American corner has been moved to the Youth center, which is a cult place in Belgrade and has a tradition of its own for a long time. I am sure that this would be the place where a lot of people, especially the young ones, could exchange ideas and talk about different subjects - said Polt.

He also added that our country was facing good but also hard times, and that the people of USA want to be there for us every step on that road.

In the new space in the Youth center Belgrade citizens have the opportunity to use American literature book collections, fiction and expert literature, data bases with CDs, collections of DVD issues and numerous publications of the Government of the United States of America. Besides that, this space would also be used for exhibitions, lectures, seminars and presentations of the American lecturers.
