CHF 1 million for most successful municipalities

German development organization GIZ has provided 4.2 million euros to help municipalities in Serbia improve their local economic development under the project Municipal Economic Development in East Serbia. As people at GIZ announced, the plan is to have the project last until the end of 2016.
- In cooperation with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, we have established a fund of CHF 1 million intended for those municipalities in eastern Serbia that manage to improve and expand the reach of property tax collection - said Alexander Grunauer, project leader at GIZ.
Five municipalities that achieve the best results will get a grant they will be able to use for their most needed projects.
The most successful municipality will receive CHF 400,000, the second most successful one will get CHF 300,000, the third will obtain CHF 150,000, the fourth - CHF 100,000, and the last one will be given CHF 50,000. People at GIZ expect this money to be placed at the disposal of municipalities and cities in late 2014.
