There are still no applications for TV Avala frequency - RRA competition open till the end of June

At the competition for the RDA national frequency of the former TV Avala, none of the TV stations submitted an offer even after 20 days and the application deadline is the end of June.
This competition, Milan Jankovic, Director of RATEL thinks, has slowed the digitalization process because the frequency could have been used to cover 70% of Serbia territory with digital signal by the end of this year.
- Instead of the stages by the summer 2015, we could have digitalized Serbia by the end of the year. We have suggested changes to signal distribution plan but the ministry and the RRA a competition was essential- Jankovic said.
Goran Karadzic, Deputy of RRA Council Chairman said that they asked the frequency should go on competition so that the offer would be richer, and that the Ministry of Telecommunications made the decision.
The Ministry of Trade and Telecommunications said that the competition was announced on the basis of the Law on Broadcasting.
- The attitude of RATEL is responsibility avoidance for the fact that very little has been done in the field of digitization and that the deadline was actually postponed from 2012 to 2015 - Minister Rasim Ljajic said.
