Serbian railway company invites tenders for 15 new locomotives

Serbia's national railway company Serbian Railways has invited tenders for 15 new multi-system electric lomotives, which will be bought with the proceeds of a loan extended by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The deadline to submit technical bids expires March 27th at 12 noon.
As it was announced earlier, the value of this procurement should be approximately EUR 64 million.
The procurement will be financed with the proceeds of the EBRD's loan of EUR 100 million, which is intended for the modernization of railway tracks on Corridor X, procurement of multi-system locomotives and railway machinery, people at Serbian Railways told Tanjug news agency.
- This loan was granted on 15 September 2010 and became available on 5 July 2011, but it has not been drawn yet, which is why the railway company had to pay EUR 416,000 in interests and fines - said Nenad Stanisavljevic, director of the media center of Serbian Railways.
Bids can be submitted by companies from all countries, providing they meet the requirements.
