U.S.-based wind farm developer Continental Wind Partners (CWP) said it had moved its European headquarters from London to Belgrade.
CWP intends to invest some 450 million euro in a wind farm in the Serbian municipality of Kovin over the next four years, The 300 megawatt Cibuk wind farm will generate enough electricity to power more than 30,000 households.
In order for the construction of the wind farm to begin in the summer of 2013, the Serbian government needs to adopt the relevant subordinate legislation and a template for the contracts for the purchase of electricity generated from renewable energy sources as well as put in place an incentive scheme and define the conditions for connecting to the country's grid, a company statement issued on Wednesday quoted CWP board chairman Mark Crandall as saying.
He added that if these measures were taken in the period ahead, the first wind turbines could be brought on stream in April 2014.
