Power supply system of Serbia expects financial injection in amount of 4 billion EUR

Prior to 2010, the Electric Power Company of Serbia (EPS) will invest 4 billion EUR in power supply system of Serbia, general manager of that company, Vladimir Đorđević, announced.
The projected investments are part of the development strategy of EPS and they will include completion of construction of Steam Power Plant "Kolubara B" and rehabilitation of Panonnian power plants in cooperation with foreign strategic partners.
Đorđević pointed out that the money for investments would be provided from the credits and joint investments, due to which the public invitation had been announced to foreign investors for completion of "Kolubara B". According to his words, the demands of the open market and the Contract on energy community, which implies demonopolization, will be met in this way, and it will be the first step towards change in ownership structure in EPS.
He said that most of the money would be invested in reduction of emmission of sulfur-dioxide and organization of ash dump on steam power plants. Also, rehabilitation of all thermal and hydroelectric units, which have not been overhauled in the last five years, will be carried out.
