Contract for Building a Water Plant in Zrenjanin - Investment worth 25,6 million EUR


Director General of the Austrian-German company "WTE Wassertechnik" Ralf Schroeder and director of the PUC "Water Supply and Sewerage" Milorad Bjelogrlić , signed today a contract to build, design and execute, finance and manage the facility for treatment of drinking water in Zrenjanin, worth EUR 25.6 million .
Mayor of Zrenjanin, Dr Mile Mihajlov said that the signing of this agreement was a historic moment for Zrenajnin since the drinking water had been banned for seven years, by the order of the sanitary inspection.
- Today we are on the verge of solving a big problem, especially health, and economic, because from the moment we have safe water, we can talk about the development of food industry in Zrenjanin - he said.
As stated, the contract was signed after two years of intensive work on the research of new technology and capacity of potential investors.
Addressing the audience, Ralf Schroeder, Director General of "WTE Wassertechnik" stressed that the firm was familiar with the problem of drinking water in Zrenajnin and that with construction of the treatment plant, it would be solved.
- Together with the company "Water Supply and Sewerage", we are moving in the solution of this problem, and in three years time we will open the water company. Our next step is creating a pilot program that would allow parameters given by the tender to be put at the disposal of the town of Zrenjanin - said Schroeder.
In his words, WTA - Group owns a number of similar installations for the purification of drinking water and waste water in Zagreb, Vienna and Moscow, and significant experience in the realization of large water management projects.
Director of the PUC "Water supply and sanitation," said that people would get drinking water that will satisfy all European standards.
- Price of water treatment will be from 0.27 to 0.34 euro cents. If the provincial and national government are involved in building a plant, it will help us create the possibility for a lower cost of drinking water. What is certain is that this water will be cheaper than the one Zrenjanin citizens are buying now in the balloons - Bjelogrlić told reporters after signing the contract.
The signing was also attended by Prime Minister of Vojvodina, Bojan Pajtic, who stated that the project had multiple significance because it would provide good, clean drinking water, but it would also make Zrenjanin more attractive for foreign and domestic investors who use water in their products structure.
