The Customs Administration of Serbia has announced that, within the pilot phase of the testing of the eATA Carnet (goods passport) at the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, the first digital ATA Carnet was successfully processed.

The ATA Carnet is an international customs document which enables temporary import for the most important groups of goods traded in the world. The goods that get an ATA Carnet circulate duty-free for a one-year period in the customs area of a country which has accepted the Convention on the Temporary Admission of Goods, without having to fill out national customs documents, pay the customs fee or lay down the deposit.

In Serbia, upon the completion of the testing of the e-ATA Carnet, during which its paper and digital forms will be used in parallel, only the digital version will remain, which, as the Customs Administration said, will enable a quicker and safer exchange of data, an easier check of the authenticity of goods and considerably shorten the processing time.
