At the facility for the desulfuring of flue gases at TENT B, one of the biggest ecological projects in the country, over 96% of the works have been completed and all big equipment has been installed, stated the minister of mining and energy of Serbia, Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic, and added that around 400 workers were active at the construction site every day.

According to her, with the realization of the project, worth close to EUR 220 million, the most modern desulfuring technology will be implemented in the blocks B1 and B2, which will contribute to a reduction of sulfur-dioxide emissions by 30 times, as well as a reduction of powdered matters.

This will considerably improve the air quality in Obrenovac, Belgrade and the wider area, she said and reminded that the same technology would be applied on the facility as the one that had been used on the desulfuring facility at TENT A, which had been put into test operations in April the year before.

The minister said that, following the completion of the works, 90% of the biggest thermal capacities of EPS would have high measures of environmental protection and that, by using limestone as a byproduct, plaster would be produced, which could then be used in the construction industry.
