Kamenica 3 to start working (PHOTO)

The health system of Vojvodina has received for use 9,500 m2 of the newly built space at the institutes for oncology, cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases in Sremska Kamenica, that is, the so-called Kamenica 3.

The Provincial Government, as reminded in the announcement of this institution, secured RSD 4.7 billion for this investment. Of that, RSD 2 billion is set aside for the procurement of mammograms, an angiography room, the equipping of the chemotherapy day hospital, the equipping of a ward for heart diseases, as well as the procurement of numerous ultrasound devices, mobile X-ray devices, patient monitors, equipment for surgical and intervention procedures, as well as interior equipping.

– Considering the increased need for health services of these institutes, the newly opened capacities will meet the needs of health workers and patients – says the Provincial Government.

Let us remind that the construction of Kamenica 3 started during the coronavirus pandemic and was done in phases. In the meantime, the deadline for the completion of the works was extended and the works themselves therefore got more expensive. In the revised budget of Vojvodina, which was adopted in August last year, nearly RSD 100 million is set aside for the works on Kamenica 3.

Last year, the works on the construction of Kamenica 3 were extended by nearly a year and a half compared to the initially announced deadline. As 021.rs wrote earlier, on August 14, the contractor requested an additional two months to finish the job which was supposed to be finished by the end of August.

The explanation at the time said that this was about unforeseen works which had been demanded back in 2023, but not contracted. The contractor asked for the contracting to start, considering that, even after the annex, it would take a certain amount of time to complete the works. Previously, an extension of the deadline by six months was allowed, according to the annex from November 2023, and in May last year, there was an extension by another three months.

After the contract was signed based on the tender from 2021, it was announced that Kamenica 3, as a four-floor facility which would be built through a reconstruction and extension of the former facility of the Center for Imaging and Diagnostics, would be completed in mid-2023.
