Radar: Trump’s son-in-law to also get Seventh Regiment’s Barracks building in Belgrade center

Affinity Global Development, a company owned by Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump, is not only to get the land and the remains of the General Staff Building complex in the center of Belgrade, but also the Seventh Regiment’s Barracks building, which is also a cultural monument of national importance and is located on the same parcel, reports the Radar weekly.

According to the new information, a hotel, named after the current U.S. president, Donald Trump, will be opened in its place.

Previously, it was announced that the complex in the center of Belgrade would be named Trump Tower and that the decision was made following Trump’s victory at the U.S. presidential elections.

Government deletes General Staff Building from register of cultural goods, despite objections from numerous organizations

Let us remind that, in November last year, the Government of Serbia adopted the decision on the removal of the status of cultural goods for the buildings of the General Staff and the Defense Ministry in Belgrade.

Among others, the decision has been opposed by a group of professors and associates of the faculties of philosophy and architecture at the University of Belgrade, the Union of Architects of Serbia, as well as the International Association of Art Critics AICA.

The Executive Board of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA) has also requested for the General Staff and Defense Ministry complex to be categorized so that it has the status of a cultural good of extreme importance for Serbia.
