The minister of science, technological development and innovation of Serbia, Jelena Begovic, met yesterday with the minister of economy of the United Arab Emirates, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, within this year’s Investopia conference in Abu Dhabi, and at the meeting, there was talk about the possibility of Serbia hosting the world-known conference for new technologies and startups Gitex and the Investopia conference, as part of the specialized exhibition EXPO, which will be organized in Belgrade in 2027.

– I believe that we are very close to reaching an agreement for Serbia to host these two world events in the year when it also organizes the world exhibition EXPO 2027, with special focus on biotechnology and artificial intelligence – said the minister, as announced by the ministry.

According to her estimate, the organizing of these conferences would be a good opportunity for our country to truly be the center of the world in 2027 when it comes to new technologies and a vision of the future.

Begovic said that we could gather the most influential experts, successful startups from the whole world, by which we might present Serbia, but also the entire region, as a world-class tech innovation ecosystem.

The Gitex Global conference is one of the world’s biggest tech events, which in 2024 hosted more than 6,500 exhibitors, 1,800 startups and 1,200 investors, with representatives from more than 180 countries.

There was a total of 200,000 visitors then, which confirms its status as a leading global tech hub.

The Investopia conference, a global investment initiative launched by the UAE, is recording a considerable increase in the number of participants since its founding.

This conference, on average, draws more than 2,500 participants from close to 60 countries of the world, among which are directors, company founders and co-founders, as well as leaders from the world of finance who manage funds of over USD 500 billion.
