According to him, MAK International, Aster Textile and Philip Morris are some of the companies that have contacted the National Employment Service in recent months looking for workers, so there is a possibility that some of the people who will lose their jobs at Benetton will be employed there. He says he met with representatives of the NES, the minister of economy, and the Development Agency of Serbia.
Although more than 100 conductors at Nis Ekspres recently lost their jobs, the mayor says that the number of the unemployed in Nis is decreasing.
– In December 2023, we had about 17,600 unemployed people on the NES records, and in December 2024, 15,889 of them, which means that more than 1,600 people were employed during 2024. There is a trend of decreasing unemployment. It gives us hope that we will be able to solve these problems. Believe me, we will fight to carry this out in the right way – says Pavlovic.
