External trade deficit of Serbia increases nearly 20% in one year

The value of exports amounted to EUR 29.16 billion, which was a 1.8% increase compared to the same period last year. The value of imports amounted to EUR 39.03 billion, which was a 5.9% increase when compared to the same period last year.
The deficit amounted to EUR 9.86 billion, which was an increase of 19.9% compared to the same period last year.
The export - import ratio equaled 74.8% and was lower if compared to the same period last year when it was 77.7%.
The external trade in the reference period noted the highest level with the counties with which Serbia has signed agreements on free trade. European Union member countries account for 58.3% of total external trade.
Serbia’s second major partner refers to the CEFTA countries, since the country’s gained surplus in external trade amounted to EUR 2.83 billion, resulting from the exports of EUR 4.49 billion and imports of EUR 1.66 billion.
