The City of Subotica has announced the public presentation of the urban project for the construction of the production complex of the mega factory for the production of LFP batteries, of the investor ElevenEs from Subotica.

The project was prepared by Kubarch doo Subotica, and the preliminary design was authored by North Engineering from the same city.

The construction of the first factory of this kind in Europe is planned on the cadaster parcel no. 36916/1, with an area of 178,001 m2, in the cadastral municipality Donji Grad, Subotica.

The preliminary design entails the construction of a mega factory for the production of LFP batteries, a flammable materials warehouse, an energy block (a substation, a cooling plant and a boiler room), waste canopies, underground tanks for sprinklers and hydrants with a pumping station and heated corridors between the head office building and the factory.

The plan is for the facilities, with a total area of 36,104 m2, to be built in phases.

The production of LFP batteries with a planned capacity of 1 GWh is planned in the factory.

LFP (lithium ferrophosphate) prismatic cells with blade tips will be produced, which don’t contain nickel or cobalt, and which have a wide application in systems for stationary storage of energy (wind, solar etc.), as well as in electric vehicles (A, B and C segment cars, buses, trucks, working machines).

The technological process of the production of LFP batteries consists of the production of electrodes, assembly of cells, forming and aging of cells and assembly of modules.

It is noted that, based on the types and the quantities of the matters whose storage is planned, the complex of the mega factory does not belong in the category of Seveso facilities and Seveso complexes which might have an impact on the living environment.

The plan also includes the construction of internal roads, pedestrian links, parking lots, open flat areas, the installation of diesel-electric generators, a liquid nitrogen station with a planned capacity of 20 m3 and the construction of a metering-regulation station (MRS) for the gas connection.

The parcel currently features facilities of the former meatpacking company 29. novembar, and 11 food industry and beverage production facilities are planned to be demolished.

Let us remind that, last year, ElevenEs launched the pilot phase of the production, and director Nemanja Mikac stated at the time that the plan was for the operations of the mega factory to begin in 2025. Also, in a statement for Dnevnik, he announced that ElevenEs later intended to also open three giga factories, which would employ more than 20,000 people.
