Hungary and Serbia will accelerate the construction of an oil pipeline between the two countries due to the American sanctions which undermine the energy security in Europe, stated the minister of foreign affairs and trade of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, following a phone conversation with the minister of mining and energy of Serbia, Dubravka Djedovic-Handanovic, as reported by the borba.me portal.

– Based on the lessons from the past weeks, we agreed in a phone conversation with the minister of energy of Serbia, Dubravka Djedovic, to accelerate our joint investments in energy security, including the construction of a new interconnector which connects the power grids of the two countries and the construction of the first joint oil pipeline – the Hungarian foreign affairs minister wrote in a social media post.

– Certain participants in world politics can create serious difficulties with their sanctions and restrictions, and their decisions are clearly made without taking into consideration the interests of their allies – noted Szijjarto, referring to the U.S. sanctions against Russian oil and gas companies, as well as the Serbian company NIS.
