The Croatian prime minister, Andrej Plenkovic, has stated in Brussels that a sustainable solution to the oil supply for Serbia through Jadranski naftovod (Janaf) needs to be found and that it is nobody’s interest for Serbia to be left without oil.

– We have to find a sustainable solution which is good for both Janaf and the economy of Serbia – said Plenkovic, who discussed the issue with the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.

Vucic recently announced that the USA would impose sanctions against Naftna industrija Srbije (NIS), a company with Russian ownership.

– Croatia has its own energy infrastructure so that we would use our geostrategic position for our own energy security, but also the security of neighboring countries so that they would also have a diversified energy supply. I believe that it is in nobody’s interest for anyone, including Serbia, to be left without oil, and Croatia will certainly not be the one to push such a policy – stated Plenkovic.

He added that Serbia was 95% dependent of oil supply through Croatia.
