The wind farm Pupin represents the second phase of the complex of wind farms that the Israeli company Enlight is building in Banat. In the first phase, the wind farm Kovacica with a power of 104 megawatts was put into operation, and with the opening of the wind farm Pupin, another 95 megawatts of electrical energy from renewable sources has been secured.
– After five years, we are putting the second phase into operation. From these facilities, we will supply over 100 thousand households with green energy and that makes us extremely proud. We are looking forward to the new business investments and jobs that we will generate in this area – said Marko Liposcak, General Manager of Enlight EU.
In five years, the technology has progressed and the sixteen wind turbines that the wind farm Pupin has will produce nearly the same amount of energy as the 38 wind turbines installed in Kovacica in the first phase of the construction, the investors say.
– I am very proud of the achievements of the Israeli company Enlight and of the fact that we are helping your country implement renewable energy sources and implement the green agenda. That is useful for the future of us all – said Avivit Bar-Ilan, the ambassador of Israel to Serbia.
– I am honored that I am here today and that I am witnessing the achievements of our partners. This wind farm is an important milestone in the production of energy from renewable sources in Serbia and I am proud of this strategic partnership – announced Charlotte Ruhe, EBRD's Managing Director for Central and South Eastern Europe.
During the test operations, the turbines will be tested and the remaining permits will be obtained, and the wind farm is expected to be put into full commercial operation in mid-2025.
