Saša Jovanović, Xella – With modern materials for construction and insulation, we push the boundaries in construction

He points out that the Xella brands Ytong, Silka and Multipor offer all-encompassing solutions for thermal and sound insulation, which makes the company a leader in sustainable construction.

eKapija: You have a long career in the construction sector, and what was your development path like within Xella?

– My career path is tied to the construction industry, where during more than 20 years of working in various international companies, I have gained a broad perspective on global trends in construction.

I joined Xella in 2018, in the position of Key Account Manager, then I continued my career as Sales Team Leader, and from this year I am happy to perform the function of Country Sales Manager, where I contribute to the further development and success of the company with my experience.

eKapija: How would you describe the success formula of Xella building systems? What is it that sets you apart from the competition?

– With modern materials for construction and insulation, Xella constantly pushes the boundaries and strives to use ecological products to enable the construction of energy-efficient and sustainable buildings. The key to success is reflected in continuous innovation and the design of complete, systemic solutions that meet the requirements of modern architecture and construction. I would like to highlight Silka Light as one of the latest solutions that we have presented to the market. It is an innovative system solution that is characterized by excellent sound and thermal insulation, lower volumetric mass of the product, fire resistance (A1 fire reaction class), stability, durability and faster construction. Economical and efficient, the Silka Light facade system stands out as a unique solution in the domestic market for noise protection on exterior walls.

eKapija: Xella puts a lot of emphasis on sustainable construction. Does the construction sector even have a future without sustainable materials?

– Sustainable construction has become indispensable, not only for its environmental benefits, but also for its long-term economic viability. The construction sector faces a number of challenges such as the depletion of natural resources and climate change, which imposes the need to use sustainable materials.

At Xella, we believe that sustainable materials are a key component of any modern construction project. Our products, such as Ytong, Silka and Multipor, not only meet strict environmental standards, but also contribute to the creation of healthier, more energy-efficient and more cost-effective facilities in the long term.

Without sustainable materials, the construction industry would be exposed to significant constraints and risks, which confirms the importance of continuing to invest in sustainable construction. – Our construction and insulation solutions are supported by strong brands that enable the successful implementation of construction projects around the world. Our goal is to continuously improve, which is why we are one of the few companies in the building materials industry that runs its own technology and research company (Xella Technologie- und Forschungsgesellschaft mbH). This company explores and implements ideas, drives innovation and develops smart solutions. We bring together our technical experts and research teams to develop solutions focused on the future of sustainable construction and adaptation.

We also listen to client and customer feedback to ensure our innovations match the real market needs.

For us, investing in innovation is not only a business strategy, but also a responsibility towards future generations. We continue to push the boundaries in the construction industry, creating solutions that are sustainable, efficient and adapted to the challenges of modern construction.

eKapija: Which company project are you personally most proud of?

– Each project is the result of the joint work of members of our sales and technical team. There are numerous projects that have been carried out with our materials, and we are proud of each of them. I would like to mention some of the current projects, such as Panorama Tara, Rozeta Resort & Residence on Kopaonik, Planet Residence in Niš, Zemona Nova and Airport Garden in Belgrade, as well as Belgrade Waterfront – one of the most ambitious construction projects in the region, a project that has not only that he changed the panorama of Belgrade, but also set new standards in the quality of construction.

We are glad that the market increasingly recognizes innovative materials, strives for modern construction solutions, and sets high demands regarding sustainable construction.

The most noticeable trend is certainly sustainability in construction, with an increasing number of investors and designers looking for materials and technologies that reduce the impact on the environment and enable energy efficiency. Our products, like the Ytong and Multipor systems, have exceptional thermal characteristics, and their performance not only meets the current requirements but also greatly exceeds them. Digitization and smart construction, where BIM technologies and digital platforms become the standard. For many years, Xella has been implementing digital tools and developing specialized applications, such as the BIM Xella application, which makes work easier for engineers and increases profits for investors.

At the same time, the growing urbanization brings with it the need for faster and more efficient construction. Our products are designed to enable quick and easy execution of works, and for now we are successfully responding to this challenge as well. We will continue to listen to the needs of the market and continuously improve our system solutions.
