The economies of Serbia and the Western Balkans have once again been given strong support from Brussels, from Eurochambres, to become part of the singe economic space as soon as possible, not just as signatories to the Stabilization and Association Agreement, but also, as soon as possible, by entering the single economic market, and later with a full membership as well, stated Marko Cadez, the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (CCIS) following the meeting of the Board of Directors of Eurochambres.

– We mustn’t wait for those things to happen, but do our job, and we’re clear about that. President Vucic also clearly said that Serbia and the Government of Serbia were ready to finish all that was necessary on their part by 2026, while Europe also had to see how it wanted the whole architecture of the European economy to look in the future – pointed out Cadez in Brussels.

He pointed out that the economies of Serbia and the Western Balkans depended a lot on the EU, being their biggest exporting market and given that the largest number of investors came precisely from EU member states.

– There are plenty of challenges and if any major economic crisis happens in the EU, we will certainly feel it as well – the president of the CCIS estimated.

Cadez noted that the business community of Europe was very clear, as also pointed out at the meeting of the Board of Directors of Eurochambres, about the necessity of very strong and clear decisions of the European Commission in order to enable the European economy to get back on its feet and be competitive with other players in the global economic scene.

– The business community is recognizing that what is currently happening is not good and that it is time for something to happen. It is communicating its dissatisfaction to European institutions and I hope that the institutions know what they’re to do, because plenty of problems have accumulated, from the business environment to regulations – said Cadez.

On this occasion, he reminded that, in the past years, the EU had adopted around 13-14 thousand new regulations, and that America, in the same period, had adopted only two or three thousand.

– When you compare that, it’s entirely clear what companies in the EU have to deal with and how it surely affects us too – emphasized the president of the CCIS.

It is necessary, according to him, to enable an accelerated growth of the European economy and for companies to do better business.

European business people and representatives of economic chambers from the EU point out that it is necessary for them to cooperate more in the field of industrial policies, to unite the industries and to work together much more so that innovative companies can grow in Europe and not go elsewhere, especially the USA.

– There are plenty of challenges that Europe is facing and we hope that the new European Commission and the new administration in Washington D.C. will have understanding for the needs of the economies and for Europe to become economically strong again – says Cadez.
