Tenders for reconstruction of ports of Prahovo and Sremska Mitrovica soon – Next year for Bogojevo too

The minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, has announced that, in the coming days, the tender for the reconstruction of the Port of Prahovo, near Negotin, will be opened, that the tender for the reconstruction of the Port of Sremska Mitrovica will open soon, and that the opening of the tender for the reconstruction of the Port of Bogojevo is expected for 2025.

– To us, it is very important to develop our ports because Serbia is the second country in the Danube region when it comes to the quantity of reloaded cargo – Vesic said for TV Prva.

As he pointed out, “around 16 million tons of cargo is reloaded” in Serbia, and with the development of the capacities of local ports, it could be better than Romania and come in first.

– That requires the development of our ports, an increase in the capacities, a better connection with rail traffic and turning them into modern terminals that can be used for the reloading of cargo – said Vesic.

He reminded of the potentials of the Port of Prahovo, where the chemical industry is located too, and from where companies from the Bor mining basin also export their goods.

Vesic said that the reconstruction of that port would be done using state budget money.

– The tender for the reconstruction of the Port of Sremska Mitrovica will be opened soon, which will be done together with the European Investment Bank. In the next period, next year, I expect the tender for the reconstruction of the Port of Bogojevo to be opened too – added Vesic.
