ICT exports in first five months at EUR 1.6 billion

The export of ICT products and services in the first five months of this year amounts to EUR 1.6 billion, which is an increase of as much as 20.5% compared to the same period in the previous, record-setting, year, announced the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications.

The press release reminds that, during the record-setting year 2023, the total export of ICT products and services amounted to EUR 3 billion, and the amount is expected to exceed EUR 4 billion this year.

The average net salary in the ICT sector in the period between June 2023 and May 2024 increased 13.3% and amounts to RSD 234,407, the ministry says in its announcement.

Also, in the period between July 2023 and June 2024, an increase in the number of employees in legal entities, entities which operate independently, has been increased, so, as of June 2024, in the ICT field, 111,352 people were employed, whereas, in 2023, in the ICT field, there were 108,129 people employed.

The ministry, which presented the results in this sector during the first 100 days of the government, also said that, within Phase 2 of the project of fast internet in rural areas, the plan was for around 4,000 km of optical routes to be built to over 500 settlements, in the total amount of over RSD 120 billion.
